Kinship Care
Kinship Care provides an array of services to relatives caring for the child
of a family member through direct counseling and case management services offered
in the home as well as additional resources in the community. The primary purpose
of the Kinship Care Program is to provide stability and well-being for children in
the care of relatives as a result of abuse, neglect, abandonment, incarceration,
death or severe illness of their parents. The level of intervention for each family
will be determined by caregiver and child needs. The program assists with accessing
needed mainstream supports, legal assistance, family counseling, financial benefits,
child care, respite, mental health or substance abuse services, transportation,
housing and ongoing community based support groups.
These support groups are provided through funding by Area Agency on Aging of
Pasco-Pinellas, Inc. and State of Florida Department of Elder Affairs.
